Five days lets you cover the main Mathura Vrindavan trip, add the Gokul side of Braj, choose one longer Braj outing, and reserve a separate day for Agra. This plan assumes arrival on day 1 morning and four nights in Mathura, with checkout by 10 AM on day 5. Agra accommodation is not part of the plan.
Check the calendar first: the Taj Mahal is closed to ordinary sightseeing on Fridays. If day 5 is Friday, swap the Agra day with day 3 or day 4, return to Mathura for the remaining booked nights, and use day 5 for the swapped Braj route. Recheck current visiting sessions and local access after changing the order.
Day 1: Mathura
Start at Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, revered as Lord Krishna's birthplace and including the Keshav Dev temple. Phones, bags and electronics are generally restricted inside; check current gate rules. Later visit Dwarkadhish Temple and Vishram Ghat, about 2 km away and 10 to 15 minutes by auto or e-rickshaw. Ask locally for the evening aarti time.
Day 2: Vrindavan
Visit Banke Bihari Temple first, allowing for the old-town lanes. It is about 10 km from Janmabhoomi and normally 30 to 40 minutes by road. After lunch and rest, visit ISKCON and Prem Mandir, about 9 km from Janmabhoomi and normally 25 to 35 minutes. Current Banke Bihari hours are on its official site; Prem Mandir publishes a seasonal timetable.
Day 3: Gokul, Raman Reti, Mahavan and Baldeo
This connected circuit explores places east of the Yamuna. Gokul and Raman Reti are about 13 km from Janmabhoomi, Mahavan about 16 km, and Baldeo about 28 km. Gokul is associated with Krishna's childhood, Raman Reti is known for sacred sand, and Baldeo's Dauji temple is dedicated to Balaram. Confirm current opening hours locally. The Gokul circuit guide helps with the order.
Day 4: choose one longer Braj day
Choose Govardhan if parikrama is the priority. Govardhan is about 22 km away, around 45 minutes by road. The full walk is about 21 km, with Radha Kund on the route, and needs its own day.
Choose Barsana and Nandgaon if you prefer a road circuit. Barsana is about 42 km away, around 1 hour 15 minutes; Nandgaon is about 54 km away, around 1 hour 30 minutes. Do not combine a full Govardhan walk with these places.
Day 5: Agra, then onward or back to Mathura
Agra is about 64 km from Janmabhoomi, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes by road. Make the Taj Mahal the day's priority and consider Agra Fort only if time and current access allow. The official Taj Mahal site publishes current rules, visiting sessions and ticket information; it also confirms Friday closure. This source was checked on 18 October 2026, so check it again before departure.
Check out by 10 AM and confirm your luggage and vehicle plan directly before leaving Mathura; luggage storage is not assumed. After sightseeing, either continue from Agra to your next destination or return to Mathura. A return creates more road time and requires an additional Mathura night if you need a room. If you continue onward, arrange your own Agra stay or connection; Shri Govind Braj Dham provides rooms in Mathura only.
Rooms and transport are separate
Shri Govind Braj Dham is a 5 minute walk from Janmabhoomi. Rooms start from ₹799 a night plus taxes, with rates varying by dates and festivals. Transport may be arranged on request, subject to a separate quote confirming availability, route, vehicle and inclusions. Meals, tickets and complete tour packages are not included.
