Three days lets a Mathura Vrindavan trip extend beyond the two cities without turning every day into a race. This plan assumes arrival on day 1 morning, departure after day 3, and two nights in Mathura. Arriving the previous evening adds a third night and makes the first morning easier.
The first two days are fixed. On day 3, make one genuine choice between Govardhan and the Gokul side of Braj. Do not try to combine a full Govardhan Parikrama with Gokul.
Day 1: Mathura's central pilgrimage route
Start with Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi, revered as Lord Krishna's birthplace and home to the Keshav Dev temple. Phones, bags and electronics are generally restricted inside; check current rules at the gate and use the nearby locker or cloak facility if needed.
Later, go to Dwarkadhish Temple and Vishram Ghat. Both are about 2 km from Janmabhoomi, around 10 to 15 minutes by auto or e-rickshaw. The ghat is known for its evening Yamuna aarti. Ask locally for current temple and aarti times, and keep the afternoon for lunch and rest.
Day 2: Vrindavan without backtracking
Begin with Banke Bihari Temple in old Vrindavan. It is about 10 km from Janmabhoomi and usually 30 to 40 minutes by road. Hours vary by season and special events, so consult the official darshan guidance.
After a break, move toward ISKCON (Krishna Balaram Mandir) and Prem Mandir, each about 9 km from Janmabhoomi and normally 25 to 35 minutes by road. Save Prem Mandir for the evening lighting and check its official seasonal timetable. Add Nidhivan or Radha Raman only if your group has the time and energy.
Day 3: choose Govardhan or Gokul
Choice A: Govardhan
Govardhan is about 22 km from Janmabhoomi, around 45 minutes by road. A full walking parikrama is about 21 km, with Radha Kund on the route. Give the walk the entire day; pace, weather and stops can change how long it takes. Do not add Barsana afterward. Read the Govardhan Parikrama planning guide.
Choice B: Gokul, Raman Reti, Mahavan and Baldeo
Choose this circuit if you want several connected places without a 21 km walk. Gokul and Raman Reti are about 13 km from Janmabhoomi, Mahavan about 16 km and Baldeo about 28 km. Gokul is associated with Krishna's childhood, Raman Reti with sacred sand, and Baldeo's Dauji temple with Balaram. Current opening hours still need checking locally. See the detailed Gokul circuit guide.
Stay and transport
This plan requires two Mathura nights. Check out by 10 AM on day 3 and confirm your luggage plan directly before starting the chosen circuit; luggage storage is not assumed. Shri Govind Braj Dham is a 5 minute walk from Janmabhoomi; see rooms from ₹799 a night plus taxes, with rates varying by dates and festivals. Transport can be arranged on request and is quoted separately after the route, vehicle, availability and inclusions are confirmed.
